Chiron, the cosmic alchemist, just entered the constellation of Aries on February 18th, where it will remain until 2027.
In Greek mythology, Chiron, son of Kronos and half-brother to Zeus, was an immortal centaur gifted with phenomenal healing abilities. Having been accidentally wounded by one of Heracles' arrows, he was unable to heal himself due to his immortality. He suffered severe pain for years until finally renouncing his eternal life in order to free the tortured Prometheus. In his brother's honor, Zeus cast him into the sky as a star in the constellation Centaurus. This is how the comet Chiron, discovered in 1977, came to be known as the wounded healer.
As the healer and alchemist of the sky, the location of Chiron as it orbits through the zodiac indicates the areas of our lives that will need to be healed. From 2011 to 2019, while Chiron was in Pisces, we were asked to heal the wound of separation from our spiritual nature and from our disconnection to each other. This period brought about many spiritual awakenings on the global level, and we witnessed the ever-widening popularity of yoga, meditation, reiki, and other holistic healing modalities.
Now passing through Aries from 2019 to 2027, Chiron will ask us to heal and empower the Self. In order to do so we will have to discover what blocks our feelings of worthiness and inhibits self-love. We will also learn how to be more assertive, take the lead, have the courage to take risks even if we might fail, and how to set healthy boundaries in our relationships. We will have to tackle narcissism and entitlement in order to create a healthier, more balanced definition of personal power---the kind that strengthens, rather than weakens, those around us. If you’d like to get a feel for what this Chiron transit may look like for you, look to last year between April 18th and September 25th, when Chiron went retrograde into Aries before returning to Pisces. Examine what was going on in your life at that time and you will get a feel for what wounds you will be working through over the next 8 years.
